1/100 - M3 Scout Car
This kit represents a light armored reconnaissance vehicle that played a key role during World War II. Originally produced by the United States, the M3 Scout Car became one of the most widely used vehicles in its class. Over 21,000 units were built, making it a standard utility vehicle across many Allied armies.
The M3A1 variant, depicted in this kit, began production in 1941 by the Ford Motor Company. It featured a longer body with better functionality and improved defensive capabilities. Its primary role was to transport personnel, carry equipment, and perform recon and communication duties on the battlefield.
With seating for up to eight soldiers, the M3 Scout Car provided armored protection against small arms fire and shrapnel. It was also armed with machine guns, often including a .50 caliber heavy machine gun mounted on a skate rail. Its open-top design allowed for quick access and flexible firing angles, though it left occupants exposed to aerial or high-angle fire.
The M3 was used extensively by the United States and its allies, including the Soviet Red Army under the Lend-Lease program. Soviet forces valued the vehicle for its mobility, reliability, and versatility in a wide range of combat scenarios. It was frequently used for reconnaissance, escort duties, and communications in both European and Pacific theaters.
Zvezda's 1/100 scale version captures the essential features of this iconic vehicle. The kit is part of the Art of Tactic series, designed for fast assembly and gameplay use. It features accurate proportions and details, suitable for collectors and wargamers alike.
