My chair moves much more easily on this mat than on the carpet.
However, my carpet is too thick, so the mat moves a little.

The mats themselves are pretty thin and the spikes to hold into carpet don't do much in that regard. I've found they shift over time as you roll your computer chair in and out. I priced around prior to purchase, while there were cheaper mats available it appears they were of a much poorer standard. This was a good price compared to similar quality products. They were sourced from another branch and came quickly. They are protecting the carpets - a cheap investment compared to the cost of replacing carpets. It’s sturdy enough to do the job it’s made for. I purchased a second one for my second work station after using it for 2 weeks. It has sharp edges, so just need to be careful while you are handling it, that’s only an issue at the time of handling it. Once it’s laid out, it stays flat.
