Motorola Moto G 5G Plus Dual SIM Smartphone - 6GB+128GB - Surfing Blue

I bought this phone about three weeks ago when it was on special for $450. My previous phone was a Samsung S9+ which at the time was a premium phone.

For $600 there are a number of interesting alternatives, for $450 this was a no-brainer.

The S9+ phone had wireless charging, the Moto does not. The Samsung screen is slightly brighter and has slightly nicer colors, compared to the Moto. I can live without wireless charging and the Moto screen is very nice, just side by side the Samsung looks slightly better.

Some people may say Samsung has the better camera. I find the Moto camera very good, for a mobile phone and on par with the S9+. When I want to take photos I use a real camera, my mobile camera is for snaps or when I don’t have a real camera with me.

On the plus side, the Moto is noticeable faster and has better battery life. The Moto comes with some useful apps that help to make the most of the phone - but can be disabled.

The Moto is a 5G phone, but before that becomes a real-life advantage we would have to have 5G coverage in NZ first.

The Moto has a 3.5mm headphones jack, something I really want in a mobile phone – and you will not find it in the newest Galaxy phones or iPhones. Headphone sound quality is on par with Samsung, but the Samsung feature “adaptive audio” is something I miss. The single Moto speaker is loud and sounds OK, the Samsung stereo speakers sounded nicer and clearer.

Proper protective cases for the Moto are difficult to find. PBTech does not sell any. The phone comes with a clear silicon back-cover in the box. Companies like Otterbox unfortunately do not make cases for Motorola phones. Most available cases are the wallet-type covers that look cheap do not last. It took me a while to locate an Otterbox style case online.

Overall I am very happy with this Motorola. I guess Motorola struggles these days to sell their phones in larger quantities because of the Oppo’s and similar brands.

The Moto G 5G Plus costs about a third of a Samsung S21. I cannot see myself spend three times as much to get wireless charging, a slightly nicer screen and camera and a few aspects of the phone being more “polished”. The Moto G 5G Plus is a solid performer, fast and excellent value for money.

The phone works well and was good value for money. I visited the Wellington store on this occasion rather than buying online. The store was dirty and disorganized. The service was somewhere between 'disinterested' & 'downright rude'. I will stick to buying online in future. The phone works well and was good value for money. Excellent mid range phone that is great value for money. Affordable 5G handset plus it comes with a huge 5000 MaH battery and fast charger. No complaints about it's performance which is used for everyday internet connection, fast, and phone functions. It's not used for gaming. Screen crystal clear.

It does come with a standard case which gives minimal protection and the only complaint is because this is not a Samsung or iPhone no one bothers to carry cases. Actually bought by my wife to replace the Moto she's had for several years now that is showing it's age. She's had it for a couple of weeks now and is very happy with it. First two phones had an issue of flickering screen, quite literally out of the box. Can't fault Pb though, even during a busy sale they replaced them right away no questions asked. Really impressed with battery life, my normal daily usage means that I recharge the phone ta night when it's still at ~70%.

Ok, so it's a little heavy, but I figure I can always use it to whack any would-be attackers. lol. Great phone though. Bought it to replace a Moto g4 Play that finally died. Got 6 years out of that one, so for the price I can't complain. Bright screen, feels good in hand. Overall 10/10. Got it on the daily steal promotion for a discounted price. Good phone bang for your buck really fast opens up apps quick and very good battery life and big screen. Purchased the phone 02-11-2021 and asked if it was Dual sim and the answer was Yes. Note the Motorola website says "SIM Card Retail – Dual Sim (2 nano SIM + 1 microSD)". But it is Hybrid you can have 2 sims or 1 sim & microSD card.

A big step up on my previous Motorola. Went from a g5 S plus to the G 5G Plus (not confusing at all!) and finding it so much quicker, nice display. I haven't had a chance to try the camera out much but if its as good as my previous phone (I'm assuming it will be better) I'll be very happy. Got it for a great price on special. i had been holding off upgrading because setting up a new phone can be a real drag but it was very easy and am very pleased to have made the jump.
