However after about 2 years the suction can start to loosen (sometimes it just needs a good clean) and after 2-3 years the ball and socket/joint part becomes frail and breaks, this has happened to all 3 of the ones I've owned over the last 8 years. I've had this product for about 2 years now. The suction is very good on both the windshield and the dashboard and still is on the windshield after this long.

The only issue is that sometimes your phone can slide off while driving. There isn't really anything to keep your phone secure in place. And when I got a new car, we had already used the suction mount for the dashboard and couldn't take it with us in the new car. It isn't very easy to find a new one either. Literally the worst phone accessory I have ever used. The arm and cup that mount to the glass work well. But the phone clamp is basically useless. I can’t hold my iPhone 7 even on flat roads. You can watch it slowly slide down until it drops out. My old $10 phone holder worked far better. Would not recommend at all. Literally the worst phone accessory I have ever used. I have been using this holder for the past 4 months on my windscreen. This is a way better phone holder in terms of suction(never dropped once) as I do use it with a hard case cover(a bit heavy). Requires 2 hands to access the put the phone in the holder.

I hoped to mount it the other way to a flat area of my dash but it turns out a Nissan Leaf has almost ZERO flat areas. It mounts to the window and has a very strong suction cup lock and holds a phone well.

It couldn't be easier to mount on your windscreen, I was particularly happy that I didn't need any adhesive, the suction cup attached to the screen no hassle -and hasn't fallen off once, and It's been road-tested from Wellington to Auckland.
