Brother Home MFC-J1010DW Inkjet Wireless Multifunction Printer

Long time PB tech customer, who is usually pretty happy with PB Tech, but..... while I agree with all of the 5 star reviews that this printer is affordable and easy to set up, ours only lasted around 12 weeks, which is when it started reporting a paper jam error and this stopped all features from working. There was no paper jam, and it had only printed an average of 2 pages/week - so around 24 pages in total. It was returned under warranty and we expected a quick warranty repair/replacement but this is not what happened. First we emailed the returns email address and got no response, after another week we called and were told someone would look into it and get back to us, but after 4 more days and no response we called again and politely complained about how long things were taking. Later that day we got a call back from the 3rd party repair agent contracting to Brother NZ who was responsible for the repair. We were told the fault was not covered under warranty because the paper feed sensor was dirty. We were confused, and asked how this could be after only around 20-30 prints. We were told (in the technicians opinion) that this unit is flawed in its design and has a really small ("tiny") paper feed roller/sensor that dirties easily, and this is not covered under Brothers Warranty. We were told we could have the unit cleaned for $50, or we could have the paper feed assembly replaced for $19 + $50 - but either way the fault was likely to re-occur. We were also told this information had been delivered to Brother NZ who had little to say in return (according to the technician). In the end it took multiple calls, and a conversation with PD Tech's service management who - to their credit - were quick to suggest a refund once the situation came to their attention - but it still took another follow up call a week later when the store credit still had not been processed/arranged to reach a final solution - around 5 - 6 weeks after the printer faulted. So Brother NZ and this printer get 1 star for being so crap - PB Tech get 3 stars for their unusually slow and poor after sales service.

Very small and handy printer and with the ability to scan documents quickly,I used it to replace my bulky laser printer， you can also use the mobile app to do so. This printer is being used in a small home office, and it's very cost effective for what it's being used for . Simple WIFI printing and scanning. And impressed with the service and support from Brother for any technical queries or issues. Love my new Bro - easy to install and does everything I need. Has all the features of a large printer but this model is so compact and the quality of the printer as well as the printout is excellent. Love that it has the screen to follow instructions. Glad I purchased this model, very happy, great price too. Staff at PB Tech St Asaph Street were amazing. If you're looking a tidy little machine that will print, copy, scan (and apparently it faxes too-not that I'm ever going to use faxing ever again), then this is for you. Perfectly suitable for a home use device. Quick and easy setup, and bonus points for being a WiFi & mobile device compatible device. Delivery from PBTech was exceptional as always. Super quick and hassle free. Would give this MFC 5 stars, except for the fact that a set of inks is also the same price as the whole printer.
