Philips 55PUT7428/79 55" 4K Google Smart TV

This is the budget philips tv you should buy, for the simple reason that it has the google integration. This means you are not reliant on philips to keep the system updated and instead will up to date with google like all other tvs. the picture quality is good and installation/setup was fairly smooth. one negative is the speakers are not great. the clarity is poor so you have to increase the volume which then exposes the harsh high ends. Recently purchased this TV as a replacement for an old, failing TV (16 years old).
For the price point, I'm very happy with the picture quality and the TV runs GoogleTV well without too much lag.
The speakers on the TV are pretty poor but I run sound through a separate speaker system so it doesn't affect me.
I did have some trouble getting HDMI ARC to work but it turned out to be the cable I was using rather than any fault of the TV.

This Smart TV seemed like a really good deal in that it is a 2023 model and appeared to have all typical Smart functions, EXCEPT... when I went to screen cast my laptop and found it doesn't have any built in casting or mirroring functionality. After speaking with PBTech support they confirmed I would have to spend extra to get a Chromecast or similar plug in device to enable this.
Disappointed I wasn't told this by the salesperson as I was tossing up between this and a Samsung and would have picked the Samsung if I'd known. Just bought this TV for my household so we can play our console games on it and it's amazing! Easy set up and the screen resolution is definitely a refreshing difference to the 1080P TV that we'd been using up until now.
The sound is a little funky/tin like but speakers are decent enough for me since I'm not an audiophile but will definitely be buying a soundbar in the future.
Had a few hiccups with setting up the google home but I think that may just be our google home app freaking out so that's not too much of an issue.

It seems to flex very easily. Very light compared to others we have (OK, it is newer).

VESA mounting is 200x100 which is very small and would not go on the bracket I bought - which expected 300x300 which is what my other screens have (we are a digital signage business). 200x100 is odd.

Add to that that the lower mounting point is only connected to the plastic and I seriously worry about it's sturdiness. Living in an earthquake zone you think about these things!

I would not busy it again.
