I've used the Dynamix UPSD1600 for many years, this is my second one
(The first one I bought still worked after replacing the batteries)

Pros:
Good strong batteries
Took a long time for the batteries to fail and need replacing
Power lasted over an hour when powering my gaming rig and ONT while we upgraded to a smart meter while using my first UPS

Cons:
No Battery Bypass when a battery fails and needs replacing. Cons:
No Battery Bypass when a battery fails and needs replacing. When either of the batteries fail and need replacing, the entire UPS switches off without warning, and will NOT turn back on, this results in the unsafe shutdown of ALL connected equipment, and there was no warning via the battery test that there was any impending issue.
I asked Dynamics about this and was told it was by design (due to the UPSD1600 being one of their low cost UPS's)

Have and will continue to buy these UPS's, however I will be keeping a closer eye on the batteries and keeping a spare set on hand

We live on a rural road so every now and then some idiot decides to challenge a power pole (and the pole wins) - but we loose power. We had a smaller UPS prior - but this one provides quite a bit more grunt and time to keep working and shut down as necessary. The small status screen on the front is a nice plus too. Agree with one of the previous comments about smell (a faint electrical burn smell), but presumably it was just electrical parts settling in. After a couple of days it was gone. Good runtime for small server & network gear (around 100W total).
Email notification is nice when an "event" happens.

Software is clunky Java based crap. It could really do with an overhaul & be laid out much nicer (tried both Mac OS Mojave 10.14 & Windows 10, both the exact same).
USB communication constantly drops (without reconnect). Not a computer hardware issue.
Unit stays quite warm when on mains power.
Noticeable buzzing from inverter when providing battery backup power.

Unfortunately, because of the software & USB issues, I have had to resort to using this as a "dumb" UPS, so therefore I can't automatically have the server shut down on a power outage event.

Very happy with it. Our small reception buildings entire electrical demand is small enough to pass through this product giving us a fully functioning office with lights, eftpos, computer, routers, powered Wifi antenna and phones throughout a 20min power cut. I have a PC, a serve and two expensive monitors. The mains power in my region (Auckland) keeps having "micro" outages and brownouts. The results were a blown monitor power supply and a server that powers off at least 4 times per week. After installing the Dynamix UPS, I have not had a single issue. I chose the 1600 model as this was rated at well over twice my power draw. So far (2months) I have been issue free. My only concern is the plugs at the rear of the unit are very hard to plug into. When we received the unit it gave off a very strong chemical odour when we opened the packaging - before plugging it in. We assumed it was just new materials and left it in our storage room for a week while we charged it up. We then installed it in our home office. After over two months the unit continues to emit a strong smell - this has become more noticeable, not less. We returned this to PB Tech. They confirmed that the manufacturer uses a lacquer on the transformer that can give off an odour, and that new units in their stock also have a strong smell. We were using this in a 16SM room with good ventilation and it was still giving us headaches. We have exchanged for a unit from another manufacturer.

Seems to be a good unit I tried it out by turning off the AC power and it ran my 28" screen and PC with no issues for around 35 mins so happy with that, but it has a very chemical smell that will not go away and i have reverted to putting it in the garage for two weeks plugged in and so far and it still smells so would not recommend it for a small office space! So if it doesn't improve soon I will be returning it! UPS low battery caused computer to reboot after shutdown instead of just shutting down. Using UPSshutdown.bat solved this.
LCD: On battery indicator permanently on instead of when it is actually on battery.
Software doesn't run as a service - a user needs to be logged on for email notifications to work.
Also the UPS randomly goes onto battery. Turns out this is a battery test firmware feature - not software configurable. Does hum on battery.

Discovered that this model has two batteries, as does the next one up (2000VA). So going up to the next step gives a big inverter, but no extra battery storage. Had no experience with a UPS so wasnt sure how hard it would be to set up or have it work the way i wanted.

This one ended up being a good choice. I was able to set it to stay on for 10 minutes after a power cut to give me time to sort out if needed and then shutdown. But it would last about 50 minutes running my Desktop PC if needed.

Ended up having a power cut 3 days after getting it so it was great timing lol Had no experience with a UPS so wasnt sure how hard it would be to set up or have it work the way i wanted.
