IAG New Zealand is the largest general insurer in the country, trading under the AMI, State, NZI, NAC, Lumley and Lantern brands, as well as providing the general insurance products sold by ASB, BNZ, Westpac and The Co-operative Bank. If your content insurance policy was purchased through any of these entities, then you are indeed insured with IAG, and our PB Tech insurance service team is equipped and ready to assist you with your needs.
To initiate your IAG claim process with us, you'll first need to lodge a claim directly with IAG and specify PB Tech as your chosen repairer. Once we receive your referral details from IAG, we'll promptly send you a welcome email and text message to confirm the initiation of your service and guide you through the next steps.
It depends on the policy you have with the insurance company. Generally, we will assess your device to determine whether a repair or replacement is the most suitable solution. If the device can be effectively repaired, we will proceed with that. However, if a repair isn't feasible or cost-effective, we will replace it with a like-for-like model, in line with the terms of your insurance coverage.
If the repair cost is less than your policy excess, you have the option to pay for the repair outright, which could be more cost-effective. You have the choice to inform IAG to withdraw your claim, helping you save on costs and preserve any no-claim bonus that may be applicable to your insurance policy.
Like-for-like replacement means that we'll replace your device with another of the same make and model, or if it's not available, with one of similar specifications and functionality.
Yes, you can choose to upgrade to a different model. If you select a device that's more expensive than your like-for-like replacement, you'll be responsible for paying the difference in cost.
Our upgrade costs may differ from our retail prices due to our commercial supply agreement with the insurance companies. We strive to provide competitive upgrade options and will clarify any price discrepancies upon request.

For replacements, we carefully select devices from reputable brands, and they come with the standard manufacturer's warranty.

After a replacement has been issued, your original damaged device typically becomes the property of IAG. We ensure it is disposed of responsibly, in an environmentally friendly manner. However, if you wish to retain your damaged device, you will need to seek approval from IAG directly. Upon receiving confirmation from IAG, we will then release the damaged device to you.
Absolutely. Even if your contents are insured with other companies such as AA Insurance, Vero, Tower, and more, PB Tech's insurance service is here to assist. We can assess your damaged device and provide a comprehensive insurance damage report, trusted by various insurance providers. Please note, there will be an upfront fee for the damage report, which you may be able to reclaim from your insurance company. We're committed to making the process as smooth as possible for you.
