Using Online EFTPOS as a BNZ customer for the first time
To approve your first Online EFTPOS payment with BNZ, you’ll need:
- A transactional account with BNZ with enough funds for the purchase (e.g. YouMoney).
- Your BNZ access number and password:
- Access number: You can find your 9-digit access number in the BNZ app, under ‘Settings’. You can also find it on the back of your BNZ Eftpos, debit, or credit card.
- Password: If you’ve forgotten your BNZ Internet Banking password, you can reset it in the BNZ app under ‘Settings’. You can also reset it from the BNZ webpage login screen. Just select ‘Forgot your password?’.
- A mobile device with the latest version of the BNZ app:
- To download the BNZ app, or check you’ve got the latest version, select the App Store or Google Play button below. You’ll see ‘Install’ if you don’t have the app and ‘Update’ if you don’t have the latest version.

Approving your first Online EFTPOS payment with BNZ
To approve your first Online EFTPOS payment with BNZ, you’ll be redirected to a secure BNZ webpage.
- Choose BNZ and enter your mobile number, click ‘Next’.
- Log in to the secure BNZ webpage using your BNZ access number and password. Authorise your login via your BNZ app.
- Go back to the BNZ webpage and approve the payment. You can choose a different account to pay from if you need to. Click ‘Authorise payment’ when ready and then ‘Confirm’.
- You’ll be automatically redirected back to your shopping experience to finalise your order.
Approving a subsequent Online EFTPOS payment with BNZ
You can approve your subsequent Online EFTPOS payments with BNZ directly from the BNZ app.
- Select Online EFTPOS on the Billing page of the checkout and place your order.
- In the Online EFTPOS payment portal, choose BNZ and enter your mobile number, click ‘Next’.
- Tap a payment push notification* or manually open your BNZ app** to approve the payment.
- Follow the instructions in the BNZ app to approve the payment. If the payment request doesn’t come through, logout and log back in.
- Once approved, go back to your shopping experience to finalise your order.
*Push notifications are not mandatory for paying with Online EFTPOS but they will make it easier. You can enable them in your BNZ Online banking settings or in the BNZ app under Menu>Settings>Notifications.
**You’ll need the latest version of the app.
