It's fast but drive runs quite hot (59C seen), case is plastic and no good way to get rid of heat build-up. Not for 24/7 use unless you point a fan at it. I bought two of these enclosures, luckily for other reasons I was monitoring the temperature, both went into the 60s for a spinning drive. I am guessing these are not designed for "always on" use or something. I have solved it by pointing a case fan at them but I would not buy them again. I would have returned them but I threw away the box. Look for enclosures that have internal fans at lease. I use it with a 3.5inch hdd and it works fast as and with the cover on the drive only gets a little warm. It would be preferrable to allow for the user to adjust the power-saving feature on or off which you can't with this but that's no big deal.
