WD Red Plus 4TB 3.5" Internal HDD

I have a lot of WD red 4TB (5400 rpm) drives for my desktops and NAS - none of them failed so far.
This time I opted for the 10TB (7200 rpm) but was worried about the noise level.

Drives by Western Digital have a well-earned reputation of being reliable. This particular "Plus" model avoids the use of SMR (shingled media recording) which makes it more reliable and suitable for NAS applications. Although the drive capacity is high, the drive technology does not yet need to rely on a helium-filled case; hence no need to worry about respective leaks. This performs exactly as I expected. I added it to my Synology NAS which was a very simple process even for a pensioner. It was plug and play giving me ample LAN storage for the foreseeable future. Strikes a good balance between performance, size and price. Decent write speed especially compared to the larger SMR drives, but not ludicrously expensive.

I purchase two of these to replace 3 TB WD Red disks in a NAS that failed after 8 years of contiuous operation.
The disks worked straight away in a new 4 bay NAS enclosure.

It's a HDD so what can I say but I purchased this for my Synology NAS as I was short one drive to have the level of redundancy I needed. It fitted, formatted and performed as expected and was reasonably priced.
