ECOFLOW River 3 Plus Portable Power Station 286WH 3* AC 600W, 2* USB-A 12W, 1* USB-C 100W WIFI + Bluetooth

I’ve been using the EcoFlow RIVER 3 mainly for charging my everyday electronics — laptop, drone, iPad, and iPhone — and it’s been a great performer so far. It’s compact, easy to use, and holds enough charge to keep multiple devices going when I’m off-grid or during outages.

I’m planning to test it with my Brass Monkey fridge soon as well. The fridge’s internal battery doesn’t last long, and the RIVER 3 looks like a solid solution to extend its run time. I’m also keen to get the battery expansion and solar charging panel when budget allows, which would really open up more options for longer trips or power backup at home.

The only downside I’ve run into is with the AC outlets — it’s very difficult to plug in standard NZ 2-pin plugs. I’ve managed to get some in, but it’s tricky and not something I’ve experienced with other UPS units or inverters. I took it back to the store, and EcoFlow explained it’s a safety feature — but in practice, it’s a frustrating one, especially since most device chargers in NZ use 2-pin plugs.

Overall: a fantastic power station with heaps of potential. If EcoFlow improves plug compatibility in future versions, it would be a near-perfect product for NZ users.

I love this thing. I use it to power my tiny camper, I get a couple of days out of it, running 7 meters worth of LED light strip, charging a couple of phones and running a projector for a few hours each night. Supplement this with a solar panel and I can run off the grid pretty much indefinitely. I plan to expand in the future using the extra battery’s that clip to the bottom of this little beast. Wasn’t an option for the river 2 models but is for the river 3. Highly recommend! I love this thing.
