Technics A800 Wireless Over-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black

The headphone sound is great - the sound quality is similar to my MX4s, with a slightly more muted sound signature. They have well-defined high and low ends, but the mids and vocals feel slightly muddy. Support for LDAC is good but should be expected on headphones this expensive. The ANC is okay, though you can often hear a faint static when using it. It's not a dealbreaker if you are listening to music, but it does mean they can't be used just to deaden the noise around you.

The included carry bag is high quality and feels and looks great. The battery life is fantastic and even longer than suggested in my experience. The physical buttons for power and audio controls are awful. The buttons themselves are small and non-tactile, and the audio controls are all in a line on the back of the headphones with tiny divets diving them, making it impossible to tell which button you are pressing while wearing. The "tap" to change audio mode (transparency, ANC, off) is inconsistent and often doesn't work or triggers randomly for no apparent reason, meaning I had to disable it in the software.

These physical issues could be made up for with software, but the software is terrible. The Android and IOS apps look outdated and lack basic features (full audio equaliser, LDAC/High Fidelity support/ANC tuning). The headphone pairing and setup process feels straight out of an AliExpress special and the app consistently locked up or crashed on my S21+.

These are nice headphones but need a lot of work to be real competitors for other premium players at a lower price point, such as the Sony WH-1000XM4s. If you have the option, I would recommend you skip this purchase and go with those or another more well established premium brand. I have used these headphones for about a month at the time of writing this review.

I previously owned backbeat pro 2 and pxc 550 and this handset is one of the best upgrade over those 2. Excellent sound quality and good sound stage.

Software is very good. A lot of EQ settings and shows your current used codec.

Cons:
Not a lot but default touch setting should be double touch to turn on off ANC and 3 touch to ambient sound but easy to modify on settings.
take while to get use to controls after back beat pro2 but once get use to it is very simple.
Pros well above the cons overall and not affect listening performance.

In my initial comparison to these Sony twins, I noticed the following. 1) The overall sound from the A800 is about as near to the same as either of the others as you can get, IMHO. The Graphic EQ is what makes the sound good in all of them.. 2) Both the Sony's seem to fit my head a little bit better than the Technics A800, and the band across the top of the head is a little more noticeable on the A800, but this will vary from head to head so it really amounts to very little to all of you.. 3) The A800 is slightly heavier on the head - just a tad though so no real worries here either.. 4) The Technics A800 is the very first headphone that I have ever had with the sound cable (if you use this) going into the right side ear cup, usually default is the left side..

I think the Technics A800 is a bit better looking than either Sony, which look a little bland to be honest, but looks account for nothing when it comes to performance, as these two are seriously good headphones for sound. The price of A800's at $348 though is a real bargain, cheaper than anywhere else so get in fast while it lasts. I seriously doubt that you'll be disappointed with these. I did not expect them to be anywhere near as good as the others but they certainly impressed me at first try. There is a lot more to listen to yet though so who knows what I'll say in 6 months time...

Of the three, which would I personally own - the Technics EAH-A800,, Sony WH1000XM4,, or Sony WH1000XM5..?? Well as I said I have all 3 so that's of no concern to me now. Honestly, the A800 seems to be well worth the money...

The mobile app is ok, and good for customising the multi-touch features. Multi-point is a very useful feature. However, I've found that the sound is out of sync with video when connected to my iPhone and Mac simultaneously - which is a common problem with other BT headphones. It's best to disconnect from the phone if you want nice video + sound sync.

These are good enough, however I probably should had saved up and purchased the Sonys instead. I am regretting this now.

Good features are the carry case, the build quality, and the battery life.

There are only good things I can say about these Technics. I can't believe that everyone is only talking about the competitor "Bose, Sony, and co." The Technics are even better than the competitor. I love the design. They are super comfortable and the sound is outstanding. It recognizes when taking off the Headphones and pauses what ever you are listening. Sound Cancelation is top notch and so is the ambience sound mode.

I am not a big fan of touch buttons like the other Brands do. I like to feel the buttons although they are hardly visible when wearing the Headphones. The only touch button is to switch from Noise Cancelling to Ambient Sound.
As far as I remember, all DJ's from way back until now are using Technics and they are in Market for a very very long time, so when I ordered these Technics I expected the very best possible and I honestly have to say, I received what I expected. I only can recommend these Headphones. What is most impressive is the battery life. I can guarantee, no other Headphones have such a long run period.

As others have said, few annoying artifacts in the nc when loud noises around, but otherwise nc is mostly good, and ambient mode handy. The big but is that they've just broken while I was extending the arms to put them on. Sad to leave them behind, but I won't be buying again. I've had these for a year or two, using them every day. Loving these headphones so far (about a month). I don't want to buy the Sony or Bose headphones because they are far too expensive. This is very good for the price. Sound quality is great (though I'm not an audiophile) and noise cancelling is excellent. The only issue I have is it sometimes hurts the top of my head. It grips quite tight, but that also means it won't fall off your head. Definitely recommend if you want great headphones at a cheaper price than the big brands. only con I can think of, is that they're very smooth & not super tight, so not suitable for any vigorous or inverted physical activity.
