Features
The Federal Republic of Germany received six "Fletcher-class" destroyers from the USA on loan to help them build up their navy quickly after the Second World War. Before they were taken over, all ships were given a general overhaul and converted in accordance with the requirements of the German Navy. In addition, extensive changes were made to the deck structure. The destroyer 1 (Z1) with the NATO identification D170 was put into service by the German Navy in January 1958 as the first destroyer of the new class 119. The destroyer 5 (Z5 / D179) followed in February 1960.
Based on the existing kit of the "US Navy FLETCHER-CLASS Destroyer", 155 new components reproduce all modifications of the German Navy in a detailed and authentic way. In addition to the main armament, four 127 mm turrets, the three semi-automatic twin rapid-fire cannons caliber 76.2 mm are shown in detail and with movable barrels. The latter were intended to secure the airspace.
