Beware: nothing here or on the main HP page for this product makes it clear, but your laptop must support USB-C Alt mode *and* charging over USB-C in order for this dock to work. Otherwise you have simply purchased a very large, heavy and expensive USB2.0 hub.

There is nothing wrong with that as a requirement, but you have to make some very specific Google searches before you find the HP page that tells you that to explain why it won't work on your HP Elitebook G4. I use the hub when in the office which needs only one USB-C cord to be connected to my laptop for me to gain charging capabilities, two extra full sized monitors, wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as additional external harddrives. Makes life so easy! No need to keep getting under the desk to plug in a charging cable, or plugging multiple drives into the laptop every time I want to utilise my office-based storage. Within a few seconds of placing my laptop on the desk everything is active and ready to go. If you check the HP website it lists the compatible hardware and none of them are listed as Dell/Apple.

They have most likely mentioned Apple and Dell because USB-C is a standard and your mileage may vary.
As a good rule of thumb, vendor made devices are compatible within their own ecosystem and any external device that works in any way is a bonus.

Tested on HP Elitebook 1030 x360 G3/G4 and everything works. Tested on MacBook Pro late 2018 and only getting single screen working, doesn't support dual screen, everything else worked great. * On Macbook Pro - Detects both monitors but monitors are mirrored. Macbook does not see both monitors. Incompatible. Upon reawaking from sleep only one monitor is detected.
* On HP Notebook - Detects both monitors. Upon reawake from sleep detects 1 monitor. Sometimes detects 2 monitors.

Support:
* Customer support proactive but offer no solutions. If you read HP web forums you will see lots of people have similar issues. Issue with Macs is documented on the internet.
* Support claimed the product was not tested on Dell / Mac so no commitment here and problem is with Dell / Mac.

Unbelievably disappointed.

As noted in title, this docking station has proven fantastic for my work HP laptops, but when we purchased an ASUS S14 Vivobook, it only low charges, even though it says it can do 100W output charge.
