The laptop compartment is well protected. It is suspended with thick padding on side. The bottom layer is thickly padded as well so dropping the bag on the floor will keep devices protected. It is made to stand on its own. The main compartment was spacious enough for me to have a thick book and a tablet. The meshed zippers are quite spacious and can hold chargers and calculators for me. The shoulder straps are comfortable and easily adjustable. The whole bag holds its shape as in the picture. Some excess stitches were visible which could be solved by cutting it; mainly the reason for not giving it 5 stars. I bought this for my daughter's daily use. It has lots of pockets so can hold all her gadgets very organised. She feels comfortable with the wider back stripe even when carrying a 15" laptop, books, lunch and water bottle. Overall, it is very recommended. I bought this for my daughter's daily use. Love the concept of the bag being made from recyceled water bottles which is what drew me to this product and was time for me to get a new backpack. Its a smart looking bag but the practicality of it isn't the best. Having used it daily for 3 weeks now, I'm constantly having to tighten the straps as they loosen all the time. I like that there is two side pockets (for drink bottles/umbrellas), however they barely fit a bottle in it once your bag is packed. I can no longer fit my lunch bag in the backpack due to the narrow width of the compartments so I have to pack containers in best as I can and hope nothing spills.
