Netcomm NP511 AV500 Powerline Kit with AC

I have been struggling with bad wifi in my home office (in my garage) for years using different wifi-extenders. I tried this Powerline kit as a bit of a gamble. Would it work across different circuits? (The router is inside the house on one circuit, the garage on another). Would it be fast enough, even at this entry level price?

Yes and yes are the answers.

I plugged it in, connected the ethernet cable to my laptop and practically punched the air with joy. Stable internet, fast enough for all home office needs. Done. Money very well spent. You're not going to get 500Mbps, That kind of throughput you have to pay a real premium but at this price point 95Mbps is pretty dang reasonable.

It works but anything over 1080p or above 4GB files and it buffers a lot.

Although the specs says it's speed is 500Mbps, it can never deliver this speed as the power lines are unable to deliver this speed. As per my testing, the power lines "might"/"can" deliver up to 100Mbps only. I have also piggy-backed these 2 devices together to cut the length of the power lines but it can only deliver that 90~100Mbps speed. My internet speed of course is 950Mbps Down / 450Mbps Up. Item arrived with no security seal, in a plain box with no instructions. We got it to work but were lucky if it reached 9mbps download speed (we have ultrafast fibre 900), tried in various powerpoints around the house, including the plugging both in the same outlet.
