And 16 years on, they still are. This one comes with a big price ticket however, so take a deep breath when you get your credit card out. But trust me, you'll soon find out why. I now get 50-100% more speed, and a single network wherever I am around the building and surrounding gardens. No line extenders. No manual switching from 2.4 to 5Ghz, and back again. No multiple passwords. And no equipment switching to the lowest speed - even when it's nearer to a higher one. All conveniently manageable by phone app, with identifiable IP addresses and iconography. But remember on setup to switch it to VLAN tagging for the internet, after you've connected the wifi. While it may be a good system 'in theory'...once you get it working, the system we got had a 2 year old firmware, that was incompatible with all the new features. You'd think that upgrading firmware would be as easy as it is on most pieces of tech. But oooh nooo,
Auto updates apparently don't work, and are there more for someone in marketing to talk about, So it has to be done manually, and requires sooooo many reboots, and waits.
Plus these systems it seems also don't work with Spark fibre boxes/modems straight off the bat and require more hours with tech support for them to run through all the options.

Honestly can't recommend buying Orbi [this is our second unit in 2 years and the other one had not as bad, but similar rushed through design to market without adequate testing issues]
Considering sending this one back, if Orbi can't trouble shoot this all quickly

Bought this product with hopes of good and stable connection. Good connection - yes. Stable - no. Keeps on disconnecting and their forums is full of workarounds how to fix it. I was really hoping that this will solve all my router issues but no luck.
The app is really glitchy and I had to go through the install process multiple times and perform factory resets. Cost hours of my time.
I got completely locked out and factor reset would not solve this, had to return it.
Replacement arrived and went through the install process again. more hours lost.
Had been using it ok for a few months but lately it has started kicking everyone off the network disconnecting FaceTime and zoom calls etc.
I tried rebooting and now it is bricked.
Sent back again. Do not want a replacement. I was really hoping that this will solve all my router issues but no luck.

However, the set up is not straight forward and has issues using the iOS app.

for example creating a password has odd rules and does not work well with password apps. Once set later going to admin web page it did not consider the password secure and forced a password change. It allowed changing to the same password and then accepted it.
