3.5mm Audio Splitter Cable

Mic does not work correctly. I get horrible echo from the mic. Small amount of sound even comes through the headset from the mic when the mic is not supposed to be activated. Tested with multiple types of headsets. Maybe I got a bad cable but I don't know. Looking up issues online seem to say that these adapters (not specifically this one) supposedly don't work with certain headsets. The headphone audio works fine, but that works anyway if you just plug into the headphone jack. The whole purpose of this was to get the mic working on my desktop PC. I have spent around a month and a half trying to figure this out since I got this.

Even though I bought this with the purpose of being able to listen to audio as well as use the mic at the same time, I cannot use the mic without physically unplugging the headphone jack, only then will it let clear audio through the mic. How pointless is this product to function like this. Looking at the other reviews seem to imply that both the mic and headphone audio will work with this. But "This cable can be used if you would like to only use 1 or the other mic or earphone features of the headset." for those who don't read the fine print when purchasing. Even if it is true that you can only use one or the other "feature" of a headset, it is very inconvenient to unplug the headphone jack to use the mic.

Note: the headsets do work on phones and laptops as they have the single 3.5mm jack. So its not a problem with the headsets.

I bought this splitter cable so that I could use the built in mic in my headset, which has a 3.5mm jack. When i plug it in, the audio works fine but the mic makes a very loud static noise, which wont stop unless you unplug it. Doesn't work as intended, and have been unable to find a solution. I needed to connect my headset (headphones and mic) to the separate inputs on the sound card on my PC so used one of these on the end of the single cable from the headset to separate out the speakers and mic connectors at the PC end. Being an absolute noob when it comes to computers, particularly gaming ones, I asked for a "thing that makes my headphones work with the mike and speaker bits on the ears at the same time..." The nice PB Tech guy just smiled and said, "A splitter?" Yup. He walked straight to it and handed me the exact thing I needed. No "flat clicker' confusion here!
