Features

NOTE: There is no click-in and click-out design for card reader on Raspberry Pi 3. You just need to insert your TF Card to bottom of card reader or pull card out directly.

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is the latest product in the Raspberry Pi 3 range, boasting a 64-bit quad core processor running at 1.4GHz, dual-band 2.4GHz
and 5GHz wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2/BLE, faster Ethernet, and PoE capability via a separate PoE HAT.

The dual-band wireless LAN comes with modular compliance certification, allowing the board to be designed into end products with significantly reduced
wireless LAN compliance testing, improving both cost and time to market.

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ maintains the same mechanical footprint as both the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.

Obsolescence Statement

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ will remain in production until at least January 2023.

NOTE: You will need to download the latest version of NOOBS / Raspbian for this board to function. Older versions will result with a "Rainbow Screen" along with a "Lightning Bolt" symbol.

The newest version of NOOBS (Offline and network install) is 2.7.0 which was released on 14/03/2018. Download link: HERE.

The newest version of RASPBIAN (Image with desktop based on Debian Stretch) is 4.9 which was released on 13/03/2018. Download link: HERE

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+

24 July 2018
Great little power house linux server. I had to replace our old Pi3 as a lightning strike fizzed the HDMI interface. Otherwise reliable product.

A bit of a mix really.

16 April 2018
The good news is it is noticeably much faster with network comms. Finally, a "like it should be." solution. Wired LAN is 300 (not 1 gig like some have said) and WIFI is now at contemporary speeds as well.

The bad news is, takes much more juice and needs even a bit more than the specs declare. So, not so good for portability.

Also, as you might expect, some compatibility issues with some hard and software. (Google voice kit for instance, it would love the faster network, doesn't matter for portability, but it won't be in that space soon. For makers, it just iterative, with power needs over other benefits. P3B, still going to be in ...

A powerhouse that packs a punch

13 May 2019
Using the Pi3 as a headless server hosting MQTT and Node-Red instances for running my home automation logic. Been a massive upgrade from the Pi Zero I had previously.

The most popular single-board-computer

2 April 2019
Raspberry Pi works as expected, either as a controller for electronics projects or just as a tiny media centre computer.

It's easy to see why it is the most popular single-board-computer for hobbyists.

Great little computer

25 February 2019
I have been using a raspberry pi 1 for my arcade and it is very slow compared to the 3 B+. It can even run PSX games full speed. When I bought the 3 B+ it was originally not displaying and was heating up pretty fast. I tried for two days to and all options to get it to display but no luck. Since it was still inside the warranty I took it back and got a replacement. It has worked flawlessly since with MUCH lower temperatures.

Definitely a great deal for how much power it has would recommend for any and all projects

PS the arcade software is called Retropie for anyone wanting to know

Best Raspberry Pi to date

25 January 2019
Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized (but fatter) ARM computer with most of the buzzwords. HDMI, GPIO, USB, Ethernet, WiFi and even Bluetooth on the 3B+. All for only 10-12W.
This one is loaded up with Raspbian and is running yet another home automation task in my bookshelf.

Good Raspberry Pi

21 January 2019
Good product but remember you need a power adaptor and likely a case. Doesn't run too hot. Just a get a case with a good heatsink, don't get one with a fan.

Question:
Does Pi3B+ need heatsinks? Do they come installed?
Asked by: John ONeill on 15 May 2018
Answer:
A heatsink does not come installed. Unless you're using the full CPU capacity for extended periods of time it shouldn't be necessary and proper ventilation should be enough.
