Xiaomi Smart Home Door and Window Sensor 2 with Light Sensor, Bluetooth 5.1 BLE (Required to work with Mi Smart Home Hub)

I have the Zigbee version of these integrated with Home Assistant, so I thought I would try out the new BLE model.
Using an ESP32 along with Home Assistant, this sensor works well. The alerts are instant so perfect from a security perspective.

Initially I got it so that I can automate turning off the heater when the door is open. Didn't even know I wanted the light sensor, but with it I can also automate turning off the heater if the door is closed but lights are off (when nobody is in the study room). Didn't even know I needed this feature until I got it.
Also it's much smaller and discrete than I expected, which is great. The pictures really don't give you a sense of how small it is, it's similar size to a matchbox. Bought two, and while they worked well for a time, they were quite fiddly to get to work in the first place.

Unfortunately, about a year later they just stopped transmitting their status and nothing I could do would recover them. I could see they were trying to work by the LED flashing every time I opened and closed the door, but sadly the message didn't reach the receiver. Despite being purchased several weeks apart, they died within a couple days of each other.
