Edifier R1280DB 42W Powered Bookshelf Speaker System with Bluetooth - Brown

These little Edifiers are the best speakers I've bought in the last ten years. They aren't built to create a large volume of sound, but the sound is clear, crisp, and well-rounded. They provide quite sufficient bass response to fill a room at a reasonable volume. The Optical input and Bluetooth input were major selling points for me, and both function very well. The bluetooth implementation in particular is extremely user-friendly. I would absolutely buy these again. These little Edifiers are the best speakers I've bought in the last ten years. We've got these plugged directly into the optical output of our 4k TV, and the sound is quite a bit clearer than the previous speakers we were using (and way better than the TV speakers). The tiny remote is a real bonus too (our previous speakers didn't have one). The sound is really good - they aren't going to shake the walls but they are more than loud enough to ensure you get a good experience from movies and music. The bass is surprisingly good too (not quite as good as having a sub, but there's plenty there if you like your bass). I picked up the R1280DB after returning the R1280DBs. PBTech are really good about this and only charged a small restocking fee. I really wanted to like the newer DBs speaker, as it has a much better remote, but the general dry tone and more flat-curve music response was a bit sharp for my taste. The R1280DB has a much bigger 116mm woofer as opposed to the 101mm woofer in the R1280DBs. The DBs is tuned to go with a subwoofer hence it has a lighter sound. The bigger woofer in this older model DB makes for a much deeper and richer tone presence. To match the bigger woofer, they de-tune the tweeter a bit. No need to break in, I knew in seconds this was the sound I wanted. Unfortunately the Bluetooth feature is a bit basic sounding, and not nearly as good as the wired inputs, but I got it for wired use, so Bluetooth for me is a nice-to have. The digital inputs and analog RCA inputs are excellent. I am very happy with the Edifier R1280DB Active Speaker.

These really are great value for the price especially if you get them when on special. I use with my PC and or phone for listening to music in my office, bluetooth works flawlessly, sound quality is great, also nice to be able to adjust the bass and treble.
