Kobo Nia eReader

Within a couple of months of buying the thing, the rubber button started to go wonky, until it disappeared inside the case. I've taken it apart at least half a dozen times and reseated the start button. Last night the button was so mangled I couldn't get it to work again. Two years is less than I expected. I'm loving my Kobo Nia, which I have now had for a couple of months.
As a long-term Kindle user, I am especially enjoying the ability to read books from my public library as well as the Kobo store and other alternative sources rather than being locked into the Amazon Kindle ecosystem.
I am happy with my switch to the Kobo Nia.
PRO:
The Nia is light to hold, has excellent battery life and a good screen.
Although the screen is the same size, the Nia is slightly smaller and lighter than my Kindle Paperwhite, which makes it better for travel and nicer to hold.

Would have been nice to have physical page-turning buttons (available on more expensive models), but the touch screen works well.

It was a bit of a mission to set it up to work on the library's Borrowbox app. I did get there in the end with Adobe Digital Editions but not straightforward. I would have thought it would be a bit more user friendly in this day and age. Once it is set up it works well. Good value in my opinion. Good budget ereader option. Best budget option if you want something low priced that can access public library ebooks (kindle cant do this). Not especially robust, and the screen resolution on these cheaper models is not the best (but still better than the budget kindle), if you can afford a little more then I recommend either the Libre with the bigger screen, or even the Clara with a higher res screen, but this is a great budget option for the kids. If library books are a key requirement Kobo is the one, if you prefer to buy your ebooks then a kindle might be a better option. Good budget ereader option. I was tossing up between the Nia and an Amazon Kindle, but was swayed by the open platform nature of the Nia and the ability to use Overdrive. Very satisfied with the purchase - a great entrance into eReaders. I have had this for about 3 weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed it and used it a lot. It may be less durable than more expensive models, and isn't waterproof, but it is still excellent value for money. I used to download and read library books on a Samsung tablet, but the tablet stopped supporting the overdrive app.
I bought this as a replacement, and I love it! It supports overdrive so I can download library books for free (seemingly Kindle doesn't support overdrive).
It is small and lightweight compared to the tablet, easily held with one hand. It can fit into my back pocket.
I like how there is no glare off the screen too.
It is a very simple device, which is exactly what Kobo were going for, and this is probably why I like it so much.

Only negatives are it doesn't have a dark backlight option and it's not waterproof.
