Unitek Y-2516 USB2.0 Extender over Cat.5e + 4-PortHub (up to 60M)

Used it to move a Mouse/keyboard Logitec receiver to a better position. Works perfectly. Would have been nice to power it via POE from the computer end. This one requires you to power it at the other end by plugging it into a wall if your USB device needs power. It does give you 4 USB ports which is good. Absolutely terrible build quality, and I imagine it's a lottery whether any given new-in-box unit will work at all from what I saw disassembling the one I got! The only advantage of this compared to similar solutions is that this one is cheaper.

Worked properly for about two hours after I got it, and then started only working intermittently. Noticed the rubber strain relief on the PC side USB cable was cracked, so I disassembled the unit to inspect. The internal soldering of the USB cable to the PCB was so shoddy that a slight movement of the adapter would bend the internal cables just enough to short one of the data lines to ground! Works as it supposed to. Note it will NOT work with Ethernet (TCP/IP). The network cable (not supplied) can only be plug into the two boxes supplied, and nothing else. Needed multiple USB points at a desk for keyboard, mouse and USB Stick, a short distance from the PC. This sorted the problem with out having to run multiple cables. Firstly the product was shipped with the incorrect power supply which the manufacturer requested we return and swap in store which did not happen and PB requested we speak to the manufacturer who was requesting we speak to PB.
After getting the correct power supply myself at my own cost we found that the product did not support USB Web-cams like we had hoped, the video was run for 10 seconds then pause then you needed to re-plug the device for it to function again.
The only good thing about this product is it did function over the distance specified and worked fine with USB storage and mouse and keyboards when we tested it.
