Step 1: Initial Item Description
You can start by providing a rough description of the items you’d like to trade in — even a simple note like “I have a bunch of stuff to be collected” is fine. To help us plan logistics, please include an estimate of the freight volume.
If you already have an inventory list: We’ll share it with our trade-in team, who will provide an estimated value before we proceed.
If you don't have an inventory list: No problem — we’ll catalogue everything once the items arrive at our facility.
Step 2: Collection Options
Ideally, you’ll prepare the goods for courier pickup. However, if needed, we can come onsite to package the items for you. We’ll then arrange courier collection and transport to our nearest processing centre.
Step 3: Secure Data Erasure
Once received, we catalogue all items and securely erase data from applicable devices using Blancco — a military-grade data destruction solution. You’ll receive a certificate confirming this.
Step 4: E-Waste Handling
Items that cannot be reused are sent to our certified e-waste partner Echo Technology for environmentally responsible disposal, and you’ll receive documentation confirming this as well.
Step 5: Financial Summary & Credit/Invoice
After processing, we provide a detailed financial statement outlining:
- Labour costs (if we packaged onsite)
- Courier and collection fees
- Data destruction costs
- E-waste handling fees
- Trade-in value of reusable devices
If the trade-in value exceeds the associated costs, you’ll receive a credit. If not, we’ll issue an invoice for the difference.
Auckland Council unlocks $200K+ of value in old assets
Auckland Council partnered with PB Tech to recover over $200,000 from decommissioned devices, reducing e-waste and supporting local communities. Through secure refurbishment, the council gave its old tech a second life. Staff could buy back or donate devices to those in need.
Data erasure used by the FBI
PB Tech uses Blancco's military-grade secure data erasure software to wipe all refurbished devices. At the end of the process, customers are provided with a data erasure report outlining the hardware details, erasure standards used for ease of internal and external auditing.

Yes! We can help to securely erase their old device, get it ready for resale, and provide secure links for your staff member to purchase the old device on the PB Tech website. The upside is that the payment, warranty, and post-sales support is handled by PB Tech and your business can focus on what it does best.
