Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G3 USB Flash Drive - 512GB

The Kingston DataTraveler 128GB USB 3.2 Flash Drive is a great little device with a slim design that's perfect for laptops with closely spaced ports. It allows me to connect it effortlessly without blocking other ports. It's light and has a hole/loop on the end so you can attach it to a keychain or lanyard. I can't really comment on the copying speed as I haven't tested it. I'm very happy with its performance and capacity—it easily stores a large number of photos and videos. I bought two of the 64GB version, mainly for the performance.
I expected lower in performance in the smaller capacity version, just not this bad for writes.
The write speed was particularly bad, if I knew they were this bad I would not have purchased them.

Over the whole drive the write speed averaged 14.014MB/s and read 97.671MB/s.
The max write was 20MB/s and read was 210MB/s I bought two of the 64GB version, mainly for the performance.

Drive is extremely slow to copy onto. Took 22 Hours to copy 320GB of data onto the drive. Does work ok once data is on it. Drive needs to be reformatted to NTFS for files over 4GB. Works fine, Kingston always did good ram so expect it to last. Small length size fits well in motorhome tv usb port where larger usb drives wont quite fit due to thoughtless molding of the tv back panel. Next time I'll get a larger capacity drive though. Yes, as others have mentioned, write speeds are quite low on this usb drive, however the smaller design with metal body fits perfectly onto a keychain.
If you're needing a usb that has a high capacity and is always with you, and you're not constantly changing the information on it, this is a perfect device.

The USB drive achieves the read/write performance advertised over long file transfers (>5GB). For the first GB written in a batch, the write speed appears to be >3x faster than advertised until the USB drive warms up and stabilises around the specified write speed.

The drive does come formatted as FAT32 (likely for compatibility) which limits the maximum file size to 4GB. Reformatting the drive to basically any other modern file format will fix that problem. (It appears that ExFAT is the most compatible of the file formats that allow >4GB files)

While far cheaper products are available, I chose this DataTraveler SE9 G3 model for faster writing speed. However, quite disappointed to see it was only 46mb/s which is less than half of the advertised speed. Reading speed sure is 210Mb/s but not what I needed. Kingston USB flash drive backed up the over 120 GB I wanted to back up from my hard drive quicker than USB drives I have used in the past, and I only needed the one USB drive. Was able to encrypt the Kingston USB drive first, although this took some hours. Significantly cheaper than other USB drives of similar size I could find. I recommend the Kingston USB flash drive.
