This Apple adaptor just stopped working after 20months, no physical trauma just stopped working.

Nice and light and appears to be sturdy enough. Works as expected. Pretty expensive for something quite simple but you get that with Apple-only products. I would agree with previous comments that this Thunberbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adaptor has a substantial speed improvement over a USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adaptor. If you have mac with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt with no ethernet port - which were the generation just prior to the macs equipped with USB 3.1 (as in USB Type C or Thunderbolt 3) then this adaptor is absolutely the way to go for decent network and internet speeds. It obliterates browser lags considerably!
