TP-Link Archer AX55 (AX3000) Dual-Band WiFi 6 Router

My new ISP provided Router was performing quite poorly despite a Fibre connection, after researching a few options I purchased this TP Link Router. Very pleased, set up did require a few settings changed which I found was best done by using a web browser rather than the app, but that was an option listed in the instructions, and I could find those settings required on my ISP's website, and overall it was actually easier than I expected based on previous experiences years ago. Wifi range is significantly better than the past 2 Routers I've used, and speeds are much faster now on devices a few rooms away which means I can stop running an Ethernet cable down a hallway now. Very pleased, worth the upgrade if you are having issues or think you could get better performance from your Wifi.

I bought this two months ago as a replacement for my ISP provided Wi-Fi 6 router (Sky). It took maybe a couple of hours to set up, including reconnecting all my various devices to the new router. Set up time also included resolving a couple of mis-steps (my fault) during the set-up process, the router is running rock solid now. It delivers comparable speeds to my old ISP router (which was also pretty good) although I've noticed connection distance on the Archer AX55 isn't as good. Initially had to chat to Orcon to get settings to connect to Fibre broadband. The help sheet from PB tech did not help. Couldn't set the time and date properly either. Then I found the offer of a firmware update. Downloaded and what a difference. It fixed all sorts of problems including time and date and connection to fibre and switched on every feature on this modem. I printed and read the manual! It took two evenings but I now have every device in the house hooked up including the washing machine, my security cameras and recorder and my Dyson hot and Cold air purifier.

My HTPC now never spools and my TV connected wirelessly. My printers, a laser and an inkjet, were also easily connected wirelessly and shared across the home network. I have upgraded my security through the router with the improved IP and MAC binding system. My WIFI analysis program shows a great signal all round the house.

I haven't had a chance to test the WiFi 6 capability, but the Ethernet and WiFi 5 both work great. It has a bigger range than the ISP router, and it's worth it over a mesh system or ISP router + access points for the cheap price. The admin UI is clean and easy to use, although I'm not the biggest fan of having to make an account to use all the features. This TP-Link router works very well with good range within my 2 storey house. Works perfectly on 2Degrees broadband and you can find the settings on PB Techs excellent website.
