MSI MPG 1250W Power Supply

Nice looking, relatively compact 1000W PSU. I've got it for a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 3080 build, but wanted some future proofing for a new RTX GPU.

The cables are good quality and it comes with two 12V-2X6 cables and ports, but only one 6+2Pin PCIe cable. This is a bit of an issue if you don't have the latest RTX 40 or 50 series GPU, or if you have an AMD or Intel GPU. The very similary named MSI MPG A1000G PSU includes a 12V 2×6 to 2x 6+2 pin PCIe cable in the box, but as this is the 'GS' unit it does not. The Zero RPM fan mode was a selling point, and it is very quiet.

On the whole, very happy, bit the PCIe situation is a bit of a hassle and could be made clearer.

The unit has a robust design.

The main issue I have with this is that its shorting a cable that splits one of the 12-6x2 pin outputs to 2 x 6+2 pin PCIE plugs to accommodate GPU's that require 3 or 2 ping PCIE 8 pin connectors . Without this cable its effectively useless because you only have 1 X PCIE left for use .

This issue was fixed with MPG A1250GS PCIE5 II which is a revised unit that includes the cable in the box,

The wait time is 4-8 weeks from MSI and you only know this once you register the product to redeem the cable online.

Only buy it if you can wait for the delivery of the cable from OEM.

Had a louder PSU previously, which bothered me as the fans kept spinning loudly during pc idling so I decided to get the msi mpg a850gs psu. The power supply supports a zero fan mode, which sets the fans RPM to 0 when it is not drawing much power, this is great for a silent pc build. The PSU also comes with nicer cables than other PSU I've seen, each main cable with their own cable clip organizer. Great purchase, would recommend. Need to replace a dead power supply and this one was the right price for the right features. I always try to build the quietest PC's I can so the 850W MSI MPG A850GS was a no brainer. Great results with it's Zero Fan Mode and the build quality is great overall! The cables are especially nice and easy to organize. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to get the most value for your money.
