Eaton 5E Tower UPS, 1100VA / 660W, 3 ANZ Outlets, Line Interactive with Automatic Voltage Regulation

Important info: This unit has 3 x NZ 3 prong sockets rather than the 6 x IEC sockets & 2 x network sockets shown in the pictures, so you do not need to buy any special cords to connect it to your computer/monitor/etc.

Aside from that issue, I have no complaints about the unit so far.

The unit is very noisy for the first 6 hours while it charges (the internal fan goes full tilt to keep the battery & charging circuit cool) after that the unit is silent.

Thankfully I have not yet needed to try running on battery so I am unable to comment on how well it works in that regard. Good price and does the job.
it is noisy when charging, that takes a few hours. But for me its in a cabinet and its not heard anyway.

I bought a 5E1100iUSB-AU it's working well but I have 2 issues which I think are significant.
1. No USB cable is included in the box, a type A male to Type B male cable is required for communications.
2. No software is included and no there is information in the included manual about where to download it.

You can hear the fans going while it charges the battery for several hours. Once charged, however, they turn off. Does make a bit of noise for a while when first turned on. Give it a while and it will go quiet.

Remember to keep the original packaging for a couple days after purchasing this so you can return it when the noise drives you and your coworkers insane. Otherwise you'll have a handy doorstop. Most times I buy something I am happy. Unfortunately however, this 660w Eaton UPS is one of those purchases I wish I hadn't made. In my environment, due to the excessive fan noise from the device it is totally unusable. When it arrived I plugged it into 240v wall outlet. Immediately the fan began spinning furiously and whining loudly. That's even though the unit was not itself switched on. I didn't have any equipment plugged into it. I had it in an adjacent room to where I was working, and even there the noise drove me nuts! The noisey fan ran continuously for 13 and a half hours and then stopped. I went to bed. 8 hours later it was still running noisily. Shortly after that the fan stopped. I turned it off at the wall, and shortly after turned it back on to see what would happen. Again the noisey fan started up. I unplugged i thinking this is ridiculous.Why does a unit that's not even switched on, or is not under load have a loud whining fan for hours on end?. It drove me crazy. I never even got to plug equipment into it to try how well it worked otherwise. The noise means I will NEVER use it! Terrible unit!
