If you're making a pre-order for a new phone you can pay a pre-order deposit in-store, then complete your trade in later.
Bring your trade-in device back when you return pick-up the pre-order phone, once it's ready. While in store, we can then complete the trade-in inspection, and pay the outstanding amount, in part, using the eGift card straight away.
While-stocks last! Be aware that pre-orders are almost always while-stocks-last, typically we have limited availability for popular device pre-orders, at each store. Make sure to get in quick!
Yes, as long as the inspected device condition matches the description you've given, and there are no other exclusions in our Terms & Conditions.
You'll get your gift card instantly via email after we have accepted your trade-in, in store. Typically within 15 minutes of your trade-in being accepted.
Your eGift card will be sent to your PB Tech account email.
You can enter it immediately like a normal gift card, in-store at PB Tech, or over the counter.
We can't accept trade-in device not listed in the form. So only iPhone and Samsung models in the form can be accepted.
If your device is not listed, we can't accept it as a trade-in.
Yes you can!
You'll need to book a separate trade-in for each device you're wanting to trade in. We'll assess and process each trade-in individually. For commercial quantity (20+ devices), see our Commercial Trade-In service.
We can take your trade in device at all PB Tech stores except Auckland Airport and Dunedin (Apple only).
See the service counter on arrival.
Here are a few things to expect:
- Make sure you've backed up all your personal data. Eg photos, video, music, messages, emails, contacts, or other files or apps.
- Make sure you can log in your Apple iCloud / Google account.
- When you come into store, we will ask you to delete your Apple iCloud / Google ID from your phone just before finalising the trade-in.
- This allows your phone to be used by the next person after we have refurbished and reset it.
- When phones are linked to an Apple or Google account we cannot unlink them, so we cannot accept them as trade in.
- Check you have a valid ID, if you look under 25. You must be over 18.
It's important to back up and remove your data on your old phone to ensure your privacy, safety and security.
On iPhone
- If your iPhone is signed in to your iCloud account, you will need the password to sign-out.
- Visit iforgot.apple.com if you have forgotten your password, to start a password reset.
- See Apple Support - If you forgot your Apple Account password for more information.
- If you know the password:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign Out.
- Follow the prompts.
On Samsung
- You will need the Google account password to do this.
- If you don't have, or have forgotten the password, you will need to reset password first.
- When you know your Google account password:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Google > [your account] > Remove account.
- You will need to sign out of all Google accounts on the device.
This will need to be removed at device inspection, as it may affect the condition of your phone.
We don't provide any refund for the screen protector if your trade in is rejected.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to return or re-sell your old phone back to you once a trade-in is complete.
We only need the handset / device itself.
All accessories like cases, screen protectors, pop sockets and other decorations are not necessary, and if attached, will need to be removed.
Have a chat our friendly in-store Service team, or contact customer support to ask us more about trade-ins.
