You will need to bring your phone to us within 14 days after you book a trade in, for price to be valid. Prices are subject to change, we may update them at any time.

Yes, as long as the inspected device condition matches the description you've given.

You'll get your gift card instantly via email after we have accepted your trade-in, in store.

Your e-gift card will be sent to your PB Tech account email. You can use it immediately online or in-store at PB Tech.

We can't trade-in devices not listed. For now, that means only iPhone models in the form can be accepted.

Yes you can. You'll need to book a trade-in for each device you're wanting to trade in. We'll assess and process each trade-in individually. For commercial quantity 20+ devices, see Commercial Trade-In.

We can take your trade in device at all PB Tech stores, Auckland-wide. Keep an eye out - more locations coming soon!

  • Back up your personal data like photos, video, music, messages, contacts, files or apps.
  • Make sure you can log in your Apple iCloud / Google account.
    When you come into store, we will ask you to delete your Apple iCloud / Google ID from your phone before accepting the trade-in  – this allows your phone to be used by the next person once we have repaired and reset it. When phones are linked to an Apple or Google account they are not able to be resold, so we cannot accept trade in.
  • Check you have a valid ID, as you must be over 18.

It's important to back up and remove your data on your old phone to ensure your privacy, safety and security.

 

On iPhone

On Samsung

  • You will need the Google account password to do this.
  • If you don't have, or have forgotten the password, you will need to reset password first.
  • With you password handy:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Google > [your account] > Remove account.

 

This will need to be removed at device inspection, as it may affect the condition of your phone.

We don't provide any kind of refund for the screen protector if your trade in is rejected.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to return your old phone back to you once a trade-in is complete.

We only need the device itself. All accessories like cases, pop sockets and decorations will need to be removed.

How to Identify Your iPhone model

Option 1: Look in Settings > General

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap General.

  3. Tap About.

  4. Look for Model Name (e.g., iPhone 13 Pro).

  5. For more detail, tap the Model Number to see the “A-number” (eg A2633). 

Option 2: Look on your device

Find a model number (eg A2633) by check the back, SIM Tray or charge port.

  • On iPhone 7 and earlier, the model number is printed on the back.

  1. Trade-in your old phone at PB Tech service counter.
    You'll be given a Trade-in ID.
  2. Mention the Samsung $150 boost when purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 , Flip7 or Flip7 FE
  3. Sales staff will check details, and will need your Trade-in ID
  4. The $150 credit gets applied to your purchase.

Any intact smartphone is eligible for the $150 boost credit, towards a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 , Flip7 or Flip7.

Yes, you can!

If you trade in a listed device on the trade in form above (standard trade in), you will get an eGift card after inspection.

You can use that eGift card that to use towards your Galaxy Z Fold7 , Flip7 or Flip7 purchase. You can also use that trade-in towards the Samsung $150 Trade-in Boost

For example:

  1. Trade in your Samsung S23FE with 256GB in excellent condition. 
  2. Trade in approved. You get eGift voucher worth $299.
    Inspection timeframe - it may take up to 5 working days to inspect and confirm the eGift card value.
  3. Then you purchase a new approved device:
    Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 , Flip7 or Flip7 FE in-store.
  4. Our in store staff will apply a $150 BOOST credit towards the purchase of the approved device.
  5. You can use the eGift card code (sent to your email), as a payment towards the total.

 

 

You can still get the $150 trade-in boost! As long as you are purchasing the one of the eligible Samsung models, and the smartphone you are trading in is intact.

For unlisted devices (not in the trade in estimator form above), it just means will not be able to get the estimated value as an eGift card.

You will need to backup your data (contacts, media, apps etc) before you come to store.

We will require you to erase your device before completing the trade-in.

You'll need to remove any Google account prior to a trade-in being inspected.

To remove a Google account from your phone:

  1. Navigate to your phone's settings, find the "Accounts" or "Passwords & accounts" section
  2. Select the Google account you wish to remove
  3. Then choose the "Remove account" option.

You may need to confirm your choice by entering your device's security pattern, PIN, or password, and then tapping "Remove account" again according to Google Help
